What Next?

After the November election, the Wood County Greens had a cool, solar powered float in the Bowling Green 2023 Holiday Parade. We passed out boxes of raisins to children, and showed off an electric van. Six volunteers walked along with our float wearing our cool T-Shirts and having a great time. Clearly the Greens are not giving up. Our next event is participating in the annual Unplug Nuclear Power electricity boycott on March 11. This is the anniversary of the Fukushima nuclear disaster, and for the 13th time, people all over the world will be marking the date by boycotting grid power. There are four levels of participation, from reducing demand by turning out extra lights and appliances, to putting more power on the grid than is taken off that day by using solar or wind power. More information is at www.unplugnuclearpower.com.

This is an election year. There will be Greens running, Jill Stein is well on her way to getting enough petition signatures to be on the fall ballot as an independent. Unfortunately, her candidacy would not help the Ohio Greens get their ballot line back. That would require about 30,000 signatures, whereas running as an independent only requires 5,000. Still, the Wood County Greens plan to be a factor in the 2024 elections, we will once again produce our Voters' Guide. We may also field candidates for local offices.

The main thing is that we refuse to give up and go away. Global warming is accelerating at a disastrous rate. Wars rage around the globe and too few voices are calling for non-violent solutions. Women face more and more repressive laws, even when the voters clearly choose Womens' Rights at the ballot box time and again. Despite the repressive ballot access laws that keep our Party struggling, the Greens will continue to fight. Neither Left, Nor Right, But IN FRONT!!
