Wood County Greens are again searching for a Mayoral Candidate

Unfortunately, we have had a setback in our campaign to elect a Green Mayor for Bowling Green. We had two women who had said they were willing to run, and we had actually begun collecting signatures for one of them, but over the Christmas break, both of them discovered they could not run after all.

So, we are again searching for a candidate, and have taken that search public. We put an opinion piece in the BG Independent Media, are running an ad in the BG News, have posted on numerous social media outlets, put up posters around town, and are talking to everyone we know. If you know someone who you think would be a good Mayor and who could be relied upon to reverse BG's backwards energy policy, please let us know.

We will have our regular monthly meeting this Friday, the 27th. We usually meet the last Friday of each month. As usual, the meeting will be at Joe's house at 517 S. Main St at 6:30 PM and home made pizza will be served!

Another issue we are working on is the proposed PR zoning. Co-Chair Joe DeMare addressed City council in opposition to the zoning change which would mix businesses, with their parking lots and traffic, in with the quiet, residential neighborhoods in the heart of the City. PR zoning is essentially an "all of the above" approach and "all of the above" is not really planning; it is the absence of planning, and a bad idea for BG.

Remember, we are always ready to take on any issues that touch on our Key Values of ecological wisdom, grassroots democracy, social justice, and non-violence. If you have something you think we should be working on, bring it to the table on Friday. Our meetings are one of the few places where politics are welcome at the dinner table. Hope to see you, then.
