As you probably know by now, the Supreme Court overturned Roe V Wade on Friday, 6/24/22. One of the Green Party's Key Values is Feminism, and criminalizing abortion is as anti-feminist as it's possible to be. At 11:00, I decided that Wood County needed to show that we did NOT support this decision and began calling for a protest that day at 5 PM at the corner of Main and Wooster. You never know, when you call for a protest, if anyone will show up, especially on such short notice, but over 60 people came, carrying signs, and banners. We stayed on the corner for an hour and a half and were seen by thousands driving by. The overwhelming majority of drivers supported us, honking their horns, waving, giving us thumbs up or power salutes. It was invigorating and it needed to be done, that day. I'm just grateful that the Wood County Green Party  exists so that we were able to mobilize immediately. Two days later, another group held a protest first at the courthouse, then at the same corner. They had over 1,000 people show up! Another group had a protest the following Friday with over 150 participants. This fight is not over. It's just beginning.
