Eco-Fair great Success
Enthusiasm is high for our mayoral candidate, Joe DeMare. Shown above announcing his candidacy at the BG City Council meeting on April 3. Our petition drive is doing very well, but we need more signatures. We will be going out every day, until we have enough signatures to turn in. Please sign up for at least one 1 hour shift gathering signatures. It will make a huge difference. We have two weeks left to gather signatures, so let's make the most of it. Respond to this e-mail to help.
April 22 is Earth Day! To celebrate, our Co-Chair, Joe DeMare is holding his first Earth Day party since Covid. The Party will go from 1PM to 7PM at his house at 517 S Main Street, in BG. Feel free to drift in and out any time you want. There will be games, food, and a hydrogen explosion! If you can, guests are asked to bring a "natural" dish. "Natural" can mean anything you want, home made, vegan, organic, etc. But no buckets of chicken, please.
Our next meeting is Friday, April 28, again at Joe's house at 6:30 PM. Pizza will be served. This is our last meeting before we have to turn in the signatures to put Joe on the ballot. Either we will be celebrating a job well done, or planning one last push to put us over the top.
In other news, the Wood County Green Party was represented last week at a protest in the lobby of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO). The protest was organized by Sierra Club's Beyond Coal campaign. It was protesting the continued subsidy of two coal plants through the corrupt HB6 law. Charges are added to every Ohioan's electric bill to subsidize the plants, and the PUCO was supposed to determine through an audit if these charges are "prudent" two years ago! After the protest, PUCO announced it was finally going to examine the charges.
We also continue to collect signatures for the petition to protect a woman's right to choose. Those will be available at the Earth Day Party. Hope to see you, there!
