The Green Perspective
As I write this, early voting in Ohio has already begun. According to the polls, the outcome in this state is a foregone conclusion, Donald Trump is leading by 9 points. Ohioans seem ready to pick the man who stated he would be a dictator on "Day 1" of his presidency. This is a terrible situation. One of the Green Party's Ten Key Values is Grassroots Democracy. Voting a man who openly states he will be a dictator is the most unpatriotic and unamerican thing an Ohioan can do.
On the other hand, Kamala Harris, with her support for Israeli genocide and fracking, is also unacceptable for many. Unfortunately, as of this writing, it appears votes for Jill Stein in Ohio will not be counted. State Co-Chair Philena Farley sent the Secretary of State a letter that both removed Anita Rios's placeholder name from the ballot and failed to put Butch Ware's name on the ballot as Jill's Vice Presidential candidate. This invalidated JIll's candidacy.
However, this does not mean anyone should stay home or refuse to vote in this election. There are very vital issues that are still to be decided, such as Issue 1, the anti-gerrymandering proposal. It is important to vote FOR Issue 1, even as Republicans are broadcasting the lie that a no vote opposes gerrymandering. Ohio is the most gerrymandered state in the union.
There are also many other candidates and issues on the ballot and we have reviewed them all in our 2024 Wood County Green Party's Voters' Guide. Our team has evaluated 32 candidates and many other issues in a comprehensive guide. We don't pretend to be non-partisan. All the candidates and issues are viewed from a Green perspective. But we are fair and truthful, rare qualities in politics in Ohio these days. To download your copy, click HERE.
